WOUNDED WARRIOR PROJECT

Crescent Credit Union Announces Program With New England Revolution, Old Colony YMCA

Crescent Credit Union has teamed up with the Old Colony YMCA for a summertime initiative to bring the New England Revolution professional soccer club to kids in Brockton.

“The program that Crescent Credit Union is doing with the YMCA and the New England Revolution exemplifies a strong commitment to producing change in the city, and a willingness to help residents in ways that go beyond the traditional role of financial institutions,” said Brockton Mayor Linda Balzotti.

“We’ve made a commitment to the youth of Brockton,” said Jonah Wein, Vice President of Marketing at Crescent Credit Union.” “The initiative with the Revs and Old Colony YMCA in bringing pro soccer to Brockton is an extension of that commitment.”

The program kicks off Tuesday, July 26 at Brockton’s Snow Park, where Crescent Credit Union will sponsor a New England Revolution player appearance during that evening’s Brockton After Dark soccer program. Scheduled to appear is All Star defender Kevin Alston. Parents are encouraged to bring their children to the event for this rare opportunity to meet a professional soccer player.

The Revolution will also have a presence at the Brockton Cape Verdean Day Festival, Sunday, July 31 at Keith Field Park. Attendees are invited to stop by Crescent Credit Union’s tent for prizes and surprises, and an opportunity to win tickets to a New England Revolution professional soccer match.

The main event for the program takes place Saturday evening, August 20, as the New England Revolution host international superstar Thierry Henry and the New York Red Bulls at Foxboro’s Gillette Stadium. Coordinated through the Old Colony YMCA, one hundred Brockton youth ages 10 to 17 will attend the match with transportation and supervision provided.

“It is important for kids to have this type of opportunity, to experience soccer on a professional level, and on a scale such as at Gillette Stadium,” said Vivian Rene, Associate Executive Director, Community Development at the Old Colony YMCA, Brockton. “We are excited to team with the Revolution and Crescent Credit Union to make this happen,” he added.

"The Undefeated" Movie Trailer

I’m in the race. Are you with me?

Jass Stewart Website-It's official. I’m seeking reelection to the City Council this November because Brockton needs leaders who are ready to shake up the status quo, hold people accountable, and inspire a new trust in our government.

Please RSVP and join me for my campaign reelection kick-off at Tamboo’s, 252 Main St. in Brockton, Sunday July 31 from 1:00 to 3:00. Your donation of $10, $25, $50 or more will help to continue the progress we’ve made in my first term. If you can't attend the kick-off event, please donate online today!

As your City Councilor at Large, I’ve worked with conviction and acted with courage because I believe in you.

•Brockton is in desperate need of jobs. I am the first elected official to support a Brockton-based company gearing up to sell American-made wind turbines overseas—helping to create the jobs of the future in Brockton TODAY.

•Residents are demanding accountability. I was the first official to respond to the water-billing problem. Now, Brockton is conducting the most comprehensive audit ever of a city department, ensuring your tax dollars are spent wisely.

•You deserve clean air and water. I was the first to oppose the Brockton power plant—and the pollution it would bring—when no other candidate or elected official would. Now, the momentum to stop this project is on our side.

Being first—standing up against powerful interests and championing new ideas—isn’t always easy. But we all know that sitting on the sidelines and playing it safe gets us nowhere.

Let’s make sure city government is in one business and one business only—getting results for you.

I’m in the race! Are you with me?

WHO IS PITCHING FORKS AND TORCHES NOW?

David R. Krueger a leading activist in helping Brockton residents with their water bills and also a victim of this mess is leading an ethics complaint against City Councilor at large Thomas Brophy. In an open letter to the media as follows:

Newton, Massachusetts – July 8, 2011 – While Brockton City Council continues an investigation of Brockton water billing this month, a complaint has been filed with the Massachusetts Ethics Commission asking for a Conflicts of Interest investigation of Brockton Councilor Thomas Brophy.

David Kruger filed the complaint today. In the complaint, Mr. Kruger wrote:

“The direct conflict of interest by Councilor Thomas Brophy is that his brother, Martin Brophy, is Brockton’s Treasurer. I understand the charge of Treasurer in Brockton to include processing water billing as well as tax liens and demand notices with respect to water billing. At issue is that Councilor Thomas Brophy has made statements critical of his City Council investigation and if (the Ethics) Commission does not act, he will continue vote to on matters directly or indirectly involving his blood relative, Martin, through his City Council authority.

Mr Kruger also asked the Ethics Commission to review a newspaper quote by Mr. Brophy where the City Councilor said: “A couple councilors want to lead the charge with pitch forks and torches. That’s not how I operate. The complaint says “this statement reads as an attempt by Mr. Brophy to quiet other City Councilors from questioning hard in the matter of water billing, liens and demands; matters that involve his brother.
Contact:
David Kruger

In a email that was sent to BrocktonBeat about comments Mr.Brophy made in the local Paper about Mr.Kruger not being in the city database:

tom brophy

"I am not going to recuse myself from this or any other matter that is before the City Council. I asked for the audit, along with Councilor Monahan in order to find out what was arong with the billing process in the water department. I expect the problem to be addressed and I am confident that Mayor Balzotti will hold people accountable, whoever they are or who they are related to. Now someome from NEWTON is questioning me. the Enterprise did not indicate where Mr Kruger owns property in Brockton and I checked with in the assessors data base and there is no David R. Kruger who owns property in Brockton. In response to Hossofcourse's allegations, if you want to call me a racist, do it, but have the guts to do it to my face instead of hiding behind a made up name. i stand behind my service to all the residents of the City of Brockton for 20 years, no matter who they are, and will contunue to do so."

David R. Kruger has been at many of the water meetings and has led the cause of helping the residents out of this mess that the DPW has taken pitchforks and torches to their houses with. In response to this belittlement of yet another homeowner and the conscious effort our government is making to protect the upper Brotherhood over at Montauk Road, David R. Kruger's Houses in which he is a tax paying member of Brockton wrote in an email to BrocktonBeat at 12 a.m:

"The fact that the complaint --- which is really a polite inquiry to ethics experts -- came from someone out of Brockton caused him to fear loss of control.  He can’t say it’s an political adversary.  so he used his brother’s database to try to get some background.  Perhaps Kruger didn’t pay for ten years…., perhaps he inherited from the mob…same thing they did with Ayanna, trying to use the city database to discredit.  So he didn’t find my name because my wife owns those townhouses.   him and his background checks.  The fact that he further said he will not dismiss himself on ANY  proceedings is a criminal matter. They might get him, they might fine him, they might embarrass him…these inbred stuffed-shirts don’t care.  They fear nothing.  I don’t know the ethics of Councilor Brophy but judging from his knee jerk, dumb and stupid style – he needs to take time out"

For a City Councilor not leading the charge with "Pitchforks and Torches" sounds like Mr. Brophy is doing it to this home owner, but "That’s not how I operate." Mr. Kruger came to the aid of many burnt out residents who were at their wits end with this man made water billing mess. In a time back in January when the residents home's were liened by Mr.Thoreson and many were treated with disrespect, he helped when our own city government seemed more interested in protecting DPW upper management then helping solve the problems. Mr. Brophy is starting to act the same way as Mr. Thoreson has, treating residents like flies on a dead dog, and now a councilor who wants to hold people accountable, is going after home owners using a database.

Did Brophy think this David R. Kruger did not exist, Hell, he spoke at the meeting in January that Mr. Brophy was at and explained his story, we have it on videotape. How does Mr. Brophy work and who is going to be held accountable according to you and your database. Now we have a City Councilor at large going after home owners and doing the very same thing that he accused other city councilors of doing to DPW. Its alright for DPW and you to use pitchforks and torches but when the residents do it to DPW it's called not movin on and we need to move beyond this. Who does Mr. Brophy really work for.The complacency is starting to show after 20 years. People we need change from top to bottom and Brockton is going to stay the same until we start changing the way we think and start putting new leaders in.

Republican Contenders Michele Bachmann, Rick Santorum Sign Racist 'The Marriage Vow'

Republican presidential contenders Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum have signed the "Marriage Vow" a pledge that primarily focuses on so-called social issues and was put forth by the Iowa-Based Family Leader headed by the fanatical Vander Plaats.
The pledge supports a Federal Marriage Amendment to the Constitution and defines marriage as between one man and one woman and also backs a ban on pornography. One only has to read the first couple of sentences to see that this pledge is nothing more than right winged conservatives pushing their branded religion on the American public. The same government that give them the right to practice their religion also protects the rights of others to live their life in accordance to their own god that has not been branded by this fanatical group.
We now have Potential Presidential Candidates signing pledges and one truly has to wonder if they have read what they signed. The racist pledge is calling out to the African American community and basically telling them they are the reason for the mess that America is in. I did not write this pledge nor do I endorse this. I am just the message and unless my two brain cells are fighting each other something is very a foul with this pledge. Here is the exempts blaming African Americans for America's Marriage problem and stating so called statistics that Children born into slavery were better off back in the slavery days then under are first African American President. I don't know who exactly wrote this pledge but it offends me and if my ancestry was in slavery I would burn this pledge in front of the offices of the Family Leader. Shame on Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum for signing this racist pledge.

Here is some of the excerpts:
 Slavery had a disastrous impact on African-American families, yet sadly a child born into slavery in 1860 was more likely to be raised by his mother and father in a two-parent household than was an African-American baby born after the election of the USA‟s first African-American President.3

 LBJ‟s 1965 War on Poverty was triggered in part by the famous “Moynihan Report” finding that the black out-of-wedlock birthrate had hit 26%; today, the white rate exceeds that, the overall rate is 41%, and over 70% of African-American babies are born to single parents4 – a prime sociological indicator for poverty, pathology and prison regardless of race or ethnicity. 5

 About one million U.S. children suffer through divorce each year – the outcome of about half of all first marriages and about 60 percent of remarriages, disproportionately affecting economically-vulnerable families.6

 The taxpayer-borne social costs of family fragmentation exceeds $112 billion per year, especially when all costs to the justice system are recognized.7

 Social protections, especially for women and children, have been evaporating as we have collectively “debased the currency” of marriage. This debasement continues as a function of adultery; “quickie divorce;” physical and verbal spousal abuse; non-committal co-habitation; pervasive infidelity and “unwed cheating” among celebrities, sports figures and politicians; anti-scientific bias which holds, in complete absence of empirical proof, that non-heterosexual inclinations are genetically determined, irresistible and akin to innate traits like race, gender and eye color; as well as anti-scientific bias which holds, against all empirical evidence, that homosexual behavior in particular, and sexual promiscuity in general, optimizes individual or public health. 8

Here we go again blaming the African American Community for the high divorce rate, single parent homes and lets not forget to bring homosexuality into the mix. It always amazes me how sex crazed these people who write these pledges are. Do they stay up at night thinking about what two consenting adults do in their own bedrooms. If it bothers them so much, maybe they need to see a psychiatrist for their obsessive thinking about two same sex people having sex.

NO PITCHFORKS PLEASE, JUST DON'T PITCH US ANOTHER PILE OF DUNG!

This is the first time I have written about the water billing issue in Brockton in 4 months. Revisiting the water billing issue over the last year I have gone thru the archives and all the articles that I have written since August of 2010. I got involved initially because I was outraged at the treatment the residents were getting by the DPW. Being blamed for leaky toilets and taking long showers and every excuse in the book. August 2010 to January 2011 I went full steam ahead, writing, interviews, photo's, video's and initiated the first Water Party Rally in August 2010. I decided to wait until the audit was concluded. After reading the audit its still my belief that the residents are still being blamed. The audit concluded different meter types, employee's who were not trained properly on the Munis billing system and numerous other faults but not mismanagement, that was outside the scope even though we were told the audit would cover everything from "Soup to Nuts." Throughout this ordeal the residents were told their houses would not be liened but they were. That the audit would fix everything and that everything is going to work out. What has worked out is for the upper management of the DPW.

DOUBLE CLICK TO ENLARGE.
We have faulty meters and your toilet leaks are what the residents are told but never an apology or any accountability of how this actually happened. Now we are being told to move forward and don't take pitchforks to the management. The bill below is an actual bill and not an estimated bill. It shows that for the first quarter of 2010 a total of 28 cubit feet of water or roughly 200 gallons of water was used for 3 months. This is a household of 2 and the average house uses about 100 gallons of water a day. Heck when you flush your toilet you use about 3 gallons of water. This was a new meter and when I called the water systems manager I was asked if I went to Florida for the winter. I asked what we owe and was told just to pay the bill. This is just one bill of many that I have seen like this and was brought to the attention of DPW back in March 2010.
Is it a billing error absolutely, did the city loose money, they sure did. I came forward but how many never came forward on bills like these. We need accountability and not what we already knew that the equipment was old and the software was outdated and the system was broke. Who broke it and how long was it broke. In the private sector a company that looses money and treats customers like dirt wouldn't survive. Now we are told to move forward without pitchforks but tell that to the people who have liens on their houses. Tell that to Mr. Ford who in the Audit report concludes that his bill is unusual and is extremely high. If the system is broke and we use the same people to fix it then are we setting us up for another disaster. We need new management and people who care about their jobs in this economy and know they work for the residents of Brockton and not themselves or the Mayor. They need to stop using the City as their own personal bankroll and stop acting like they are the privileged few. Decent Brocktonians who have been the glue that has held this community together were disillusioned by their own City officials and upper DPW management.

People its time for a change and that change is coming this fall. Get out and vote and if your not registered please go to city hall and do it. We can't fix Brockton with the same thinking that got us into this mess. My focus is change and we can do this at the polls. Elect officials who will back new policies and hold people accountable and liable for their positions. Look at the candidates who have been there from the start who sat down with residents to save their homes like Jass and Michele did. Hold the standards high for these elected officials and listen to the ones who have been in the ditches with us and not the ones who have told us what we want to hear but actually are working and committing themselves in their actions everyday to make Brockton a better place for us. We have some good people running for our city who prove in their works like Jass Stewart, Michele Dubois, Kate Archard and Tom Monahan who have helped Brockton fight the good fight.

Ethics Complaint Filed Against Brockton City Councilor
