CITIZENS FOR A BETTER BROCKTON CALL ON GOVERNOR PATRICK

Citizens for a Better Brockton sent Governor Patrick a letter on December 14th expressing the concerns that the City and surrounding communities are not adequately protected from such a project, by either federal or state laws and that serious risks are implicated in constructing a large plant so close to homes, schools and businesses. The letter also addresses flaws in present state and federal policies associated with the approval process for a gas-fired powered plant. Also addressed are concerns about how these types of projects seemed to get targeted in low income communities and also how there is a lack of oversight associated with the construction process and day to day operations of gas-fired power plants and that this must be addressed immediately. For the full letter and attachments please see our City Politics Section.
